Sam Carter. Saturday April 8th 2017

Hello everyone.

Well, I have to say I’ve been buzzing for the last couple of days. I have just had the privilege of welcoming back old friends to Exeter.
Daria Kulesh arrived at St James on Thursday night, and took us on a journey to the Caucasus mountains of Ingushetia, with tales of her family history. She delivered her songs a capella, on guitar, bodhran and recently repaired shruti box. The latter two instruments she made available for everyone to try at an impromptu workshop too.

I was kept busy at the CD table – jack of all trades me!

I was also delighted to welcome back the new look Velvet and Stone to open the evening. The band packed Hope Hall last year, and I’m looking forward to planning their own gig at St James.

I would also like to thank band member, Roger Styles, for making his PA available, and also Sarah and Andy Hayes (Tennyson’s Twin http://tennysonstwin.co.uk/) for bringing their lights all the way up from their home in mid Cornwall, and helping us with the set up.
More of Tennyson’s Twin at a later date…

I am buzzing too, because of the opportunity to host a gig for Sam Carter on Saturday April 8th at St James.
Sam is touring with his new album “How the City Sings”, and has been described by Mike Harding of Radio 2 as ‘One of the most gifted acoustic guitarists of his generation’.

Unsurprisingly, tickets are flying out the door, so if you are a fan of Sam’s, or are just plain blown away by the videos, claim your tickets now!
Tickets are £10, which will also give you access to the now legendary Twigg’s Gigs café, where Sarah’s cakes can be snapped up.

Tickets can either be bought by contacting me direct or by visiting the website:
http://www.wegottickets.com/event/388828

Doors at 7.30. Music at 8.00.

I’ve been enjoying Sam’s online documentary of the making of “How the City Sings”.

Thanks again to all you lovely people who come along to the sessions. Momentum is building, and we’re getting a community spirit thriving in St James.
See you when we open the doors!

Simon x
